Fort Erie Lakeside Retreat

Sink into stillness with a 4-day yoga and writing retreat at Zen on the Lake in Fort Erie. This retreat is designed for anyone with an interest in yoga and writing, whether you have an established practice or are just beginning your journey.

Daily yoga practices and journaling sessions will help to deepen the mind-body connection, helping to untether yourself from expectations that can hold back your innate creativity, whether in your artistic practice or in life.

Sept 28 - Oct 1 2023

Zen on the Lake is located on a 4-acre woodlot on a peninsula of Lake Erie. It boasts panoramic lake views, a long stretch of beach, and rustic cottage charm. Each bedroom has a view of the lake and the great room has multiple seating areas making it cozy without crowding. The property includes a large patio, fire pit, hammocks, tennis courts, kayaks, and access to the Friendship Trail.

Reflect, Reset, and Restore.

We’ll begin each day with an energizing yoga session and time for journaling. After breakfast, we’ll dive into our writing workshop with exercises to get your pen moving and turn off your inner editor. Those who are comfortable will have a chance to share their writing and receive feedback from the group in a positive, encouraging atmosphere.

Afternoons will be free to explore the beautiful property around Zen on the Lake or go into town. We’ll close each day with a restorative yoga session to ease our way into a restful slumber.

Your Retreat Leaders

  • Yoga Instructor

Laurelle is a Toronto based yoga and meditation teacher. Laurelle considers herself a lifelong student, living, learning and exploring through this journey of life.

Her hope is to inspire those who may find yoga intimidating. Her classes place emphasis on how the poses feel in your body, as opposed to how they look.

Each class offers an opportunity for breath awareness and exploration of movement.

  • Writer

Genevieve is a writer based in Toronto, Ontario. She has a certificate in Creative Writing from the Humber School for Writers and a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University, where she wrote her final paper on the possibilities of creative writing as pedagogy in food education. She has written for Eater, Longreads, and Mic.
